Shaffer services held on Thursday
Funeral services for Arthur A. Shaffer, 86, were held Thursday at 2 p.m. in the Christian church, Chandler. Rev. Harold Smith officiated. Burial was in Oak Park cemetery.
Arthur Adkins Shaffer, was born in Cloud county, Kansas on December 29, 1874 to Garrett M. and Lucy E. Shaffer, the eldest of three children. He came to Oklahoma with his parents in the run of 1889, at the age of 17. They acquired a farm three miles south of Guthrie, which became the family home for many years.
Arthur received his education in the Minneapolis, Kans. schools and the Guthrie Business college. He worked for a time in Oklahoma City, and later established his own plumbing business in Cushing, coming to Chandler in 1903.
On October 6, 1909 he was married to Edith Sontag. He was a member of the Chritian church and the Master Plumbers' association.
Survivors are the wife, Edith, of the home; one son, Perry W. Shaffer, of Houston, Texas; one daughter, Christine Shaffer Casey, of Washington, D. C. ; one sister, Mrs, John Shaver, of Concordia, Kansas and several nieces and nephews. One brother, George F. Shaffer of Monterey, Calif., preceded him in death.
