Edgar Methedro Johnson
1902 - 1973
Edgar Methedro Johnson, son of Arthur M. and Christine Johnson was born January 21, 1902, near Courtland, Kansas. He departed this life on May 8, 1973, in Belleville, Kans, at the age of 71 years, 3 months, and 17 days.
He was baptized on February 9, 1902. He was confirmed on May 27, 1917, with Dr. E.P. Olson as Pastor, and remained a lifetime member of the Ada Lutheran Church.
Edgar received his education in the Kackley High School and the Concordia Business College, Concordia, Kansas
On March, 29, 1924, he was united in marriage to Velva Viola Shaver. To this union, one son, Irwin Edgar, was born. They made their home in Kackley, where Edgar operated a Hardware and Grocery Store. In 1930, they moved to a farm south of Courtland, where he farmed until they moved to Belleville about two months ago.
H was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Carl Andrew and Arnold Sigfred.
Edgar is survived by his wife, Velva, of the home; one son, Irwin, and his wife Carol; four Grandchildren: Laura (Mrs. Melvin Otte) and her husband of Beloit; Mary (Mrs. Dick Heler) and her husband of Beloit; Philip and John E., both of Courtland; two Great Grand-children, Brenda and Matthew Otte; a brother, Carl L. of Kackley, Kansas; other relatives and many friends.
