A newspaper clipping with a hand-written date of 2-16-1980, and identifying the Saline Journal contained the following information:
BELLEVILLE - The funeral for Lawrence E. Bucheister, 78, Belleville, will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the United Presbyterian Church, Belleville, Pastor Robert A. League officiating. Burial will be in the Fairbury, Neb., cemetery.
Mr. Buchheister died Saturday at Republic County Hospital, Belleville.
He was born March 25, 1901, at Plainville. He had owned and operated a lumber company at Mahaska for many years until he retired 13 years ago and moved to Belleville. He was a member of the United Presbyterian Church and had served on the board of Deacons of the church. He was a 50-year member of the Plainville Masonic Lodge, a member of the Belleville Order of the Eastern Star, the Lions Club and the American Association of Retired Persons. He was a graduate of the Brown Mackie School of business, Salina.
Surviving are his wife, Velva, of the home; a son, Max Rifle, Colo.; a daughter, Mrs. Mary Jo Humphrey, Golden, Colo.; a stepson, Irwin Johnson, Courtland; three sisters, Mrs. Veda Bachman, Greeley, Colo.; Mrs. Zelpha Colohan, Plainville, and Mrs. Lela Pyke, Ft. Collins, Colo.; four brothers, Earnest, Harlingen, Texas; Lee, Watsonville, Calif.; Jack, Hays, and Donald, Ft. Collins; seven grand-children, four step-grandchildren adn four step-great-grandchildren.
